Nature's Variety recall

Lincoln-based Nature's Variety is voluntarily recalling packages of its chicken-flavored pet food over concerns of salmonella contamination.
The company says in a statement issued Thursday that no pets or humans have been sickened.
Included in the recall are three-pound packages of chicken medallions, six-pound packages of chicken patties and two-pound packages of chicken chubs, all with a best-by date of Nov. 10, 2010.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

Kitty News

This was the week of the cat. I got several calls of cat owner’s looking for acupuncture/holistic care.

Marguerite, Cassie's owner knows she hates needles and was concerned about her response to my treatment. We took things very slow, and knowing her dislike of needles, I was able to modify my approach. She was fantastic and she fell asleep during my treatment. Here is a picture of Cassie right after I removed the needles.

Canine Rehabilitation internship

I just came back from my internship in canine physical rehabilitation in Chicago, which is part of my certification to be a CCRT (Certified in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy). I had the privilege to observe the physical therapists, animal technicians and veterinarians work as a team on every canine physical rehabilitation cases. As the week unfolded, some cases really gets to your heart like Harold, the dog who was condemned to never walk again after back surgery. Well, check the youtube videos and judge of his progress for yourself.

Never give up is the word of the day :-)

And Trio, the Pit Bull with one real leg amputated at 4 weeks old because she was used as bait in an illegal dogfight. The present owner was working at a rescue organisation, saw the young pup in a shoe box and immediately fell in love with her. Trio now needs a cart to get around and wrists warps due to over loading her front legs. The owner has now started a fund to helps homeless pets who needs medical care. http://www.trioanimalfoundation.org/ .
These are some of the amazing stories I was able to witness while at Integrative Pet Care facility this last week. Amazing is the only word that comes to mind….

And if you think cats cannot go in the underwater treadmill, well, think again…
